Description
What the bribe bought
The payments got a Pitești-based hypermarket company a construction permit for its hypermarket in Craiova; the ICCJ later annulled it as falsified. They were also linked to approval of a bus-route extension and two stops.
What happened
The majority shareholder of a Pitești-based hypermarket company paid the mayor of the Craiova municipality a total of 50,000 euro in several instalments, from February to November 2006. On 20 September 2013 the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) issued final conviction decision no. 178. The mayor and the shareholder each received 3 years in prison, and the ICCJ ordered 50,000 euro confiscated from the mayor.
